This part of the story comes after the pictures section in the German edition; a photo collection that, unfortunately, is missing in other editions.
The photo shoot was originally intended for serialization of the story in Stern magazine and was carried out by two photographers: Eva Kroth and Jürgen Müller-Schneck (Some of these photos can also be found in the book).
The first photo displayed here is one of the pictures published in Stern, featuring Stella on the left side. The other similar photos are different takes from the same session, they are all watermarked with “www.wir-kinder-vom-bahnhof-zoo-photos.de by Jürgen Müller-Schneck 2002.” It seems that these images were included on a website owned by the photographer, which unfortunately is no longer available online.
The photographs capturing a client approaching a girl are also from Müller-Schneck, while the final picture is from Eva Kroth. Its caption reads:
Werner H., 21, and Michael S., 21, at the Kurfürstendamm underground station, the Berlin junkie scene. Werner H.: I started shooting when I was 16. I was in jail for three years for heroin. The parole officer and therapist didn’t have time for me after that. The only people you know are on the heroin scene. You go there and put yourself under pressure again. I don’t have a chance anymore, I’m in too deep.” Michael S.: I started when I was 15. But I don’t want to give up hope. If I can believe it, then maybe I could make it.”
